A Saco man has died as the result of a single-car crash in Dayton.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says 76-year-old Charles Hennessey was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he died of his injuries. He was alone in his Hyundai when it overturned off the New County Road in Dayton on Tuesday and ended up on its side in a ditch, alongside a field. There were no witnesses to the accident, which was reported later by a passerby.

First responders had to use the jaws of life to remove Hennessey from the vehicle. State Police are not sure what caused him to lose control of his car.
