Rumford Police say two children were removed from a house which also contained drugs and unsafe conditions.

One Man Was Arrested During the Search of a Rumford Home

Alexander Taylor Kubesh, 33, faces multiple felony charges, including possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of crack cocaine, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say Kubesh as a criminal history that includes convictions in Maine for disorderly conduct violating bail, felony trafficking in scheduled drugs, and probation violation, making him a convicted felon and legally prohibited from possessing firearms.

A search warrant was executed at a residence at 244 Pine Street in Rumford, as part of an ongoing investigation into unlawful firearms possession and illicit drug trafficking. Police had received information from the community about allegedly illegal firearms and drug activity about Kubesh, who is a multi-state offender.

Kubesh was taken into custody on Lincoln Avenue while the Pine Street home was being searched. Inside the home, officials found living conditions that they say were severely unsanitary and unsafe, posing a significant risks to two children, ages 4 ad 5, and two young dogs. Authorities say that because of the severity of the conditions, DHHS Child Protective Services immediately took emergency custody of the children. The dogs were taken by the Rumford Animal Control Officer.

Rumford Police Seized a Variety of Illegal Drugs But Found No Guns

Seized in that search were gram quantities of crack cocaine and fentanyl a small quantity of methamphetamine, and several pounds of processed marijuana. No firearms were located in the residence.
