The American Red Cross is helping six people after fire damaged their Bangor home.

The fire on Nelson Street was called in just before 5:30 Wednesday evening. Responders saw smoke when they got to the scene and found the damage was contained to the second floor. No one was hurt in the blaze. Now, the State Fire Marshal's Office is working to determine a cause.

Disaster responders from the American Red Cross helped the six people who were displaced by the fire, while also following coronavirus protocols. This included virtual interactions and social distancing.

The Red Cross helps people affected by everything from home fires to hurricanes and tornadoes, often traveling to other states to offer aid. They provide people with the physical things they need, but also offer emotional support. Find more information on the website for the Red Cross.
