Portland Police say identifying an alleged burglar was easy since he left his wallet behind.

The crime began to go awry just after 3:00 Wednesday morning, when the residents of 236 Park Avenue awoke to find a man in their living room. According to the Portland Press Herald, the man got away before police arrived, but he left them a pretty big clue as to his identity. In his haste to leave the apartment, he apparently dropped his wallet. Police found an ID card in the wallet for Troy Day, and then found the 32-year-old a short distance away.

Day is charged with burglary, theft, and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail, where his bail was set at $10,000.
