All Elite Wrestling (AEW) made its Maine debut Wednesday night, bringing a national television broadcast to the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.

It marked the first nationally televised wrestling broadcast from Maine since WWF Raw Is War aired from the same venue, then known as the Portland Civic Center, on December 8th, 1997.

The television broadcast opened with video from earlier in the day showing wrestling legends Chris Jericho, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson at The Portland Breakwater Light.

Also known as Bug Light, the South Portland lighthouse was featured in a segment with the three reflecting on their history with one another ahead of their upcoming match.

Wednesday night’s show in Maine served as the final televised stop before AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

The event, which is the company’s longest-running annual pay-per-view, is scheduled to air live Sunday, May 24th, from Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York.
