The cast for the 51st season of the popular reality show has been released, including several contestants with connections to our region.

Survivor is a long-running CBS reality competition series in which contestants are divided into tribes and compete in challenges while navigating alliances and voting players out of the game, with the last remaining castaways competing for the $1 million prize.

The 21 new players for Season 51 were announced on August 26th, with the season set to premiere with a special two-hour episode on Wednesday, September 23rd, on CBS.

Of the 21 contestants announced for Season 51, three have ties to New England through their hometowns or current residences.

Those contestants are Aaliyah Puglia, 24, a chef living in Providence, Rhode Island; Eric Macksoud, 34, a mental health counselor living in Windsor Locks, Connecticut; and Rob Antonson, 40, an airline gate agent from Johnston, Rhode Island, who lives in Cumberland.
