Data specialists at Play Casino compared official 2025 recreation-visit totals, with Great Smoky Mountains National Park ranking first at more than 11.5 million visits and Acadia National Park placing seventh with just over 4 million.

Acadia finished about 92,000 visits behind Rocky Mountain National Park and nearly 279,000 ahead of Grand Teton National Park, while the 10 most visited parks accounted for roughly 15% of all National Park System visits.

Acadia is Maine’s only national park, with its main section located on Mount Desert Island and another section along the coast at Schoodic Peninsula.

Annual visitation can help travelers plan for busy periods, but the National Park Service recommends checking current alerts, reservation requirements, and monthly visitation data before visiting popular areas.
