Our Pine Tree State was recently named one of the best states for teen drivers in the country, according to a new report.

WalletHub recently ranked all 50 states based on 23 metrics covering teen driver safety, economic conditions, and driving laws.

Each metric was scored on a 100-point scale and weighted to create an overall score, with factors ranging from teen driver fatalities and car repair costs to impaired-driving laws.

Maine ranked 10th overall in the study, including 12th for safety, 10th for economic environment, and 21st for driving laws.

The state also ranked among the best in the country for having one of the lowest average costs of car repairs.

Other New England states also appeared throughout the rankings, with Connecticut placing fifth overall, Massachusetts sixth, and Rhode Island seventh, putting all four states in the top 10.

On the other end of the rankings, Vermont placed 33rd overall, while New Hampshire came in at 42nd.
