Police Investigating Accidental Death of Staceyville Infant

Police are investigating after a 4-month-old child died of injuries suffered in a fall in Staceyville.

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Department and the State Police Major Crimes Unit were called to investigate after the reported death of a 4-month-old child. Officials say the baby was riding in a horse-drawn carriage on Route 11, otherwise known as State Road, when it fell out. The infant was transported to Millinocket General Hospital with a significant head injury, and later passed away from those injuries.

This investigation is ongoing.
