Police are investigating a death in a Winthrop mobile home park they say is considered suspicious.

UPDATE: The State Medical Examiner's Office says 30-year-old Joshua Martin died as the result of a gunshot wound and has deemed the death and homicide. Martin is originally from Rochester, New York, but has been living in the Augusta area. 

Winthrop Police were called to Squire Court, which is off the Wayne Road in Winthrop just before 11:00 Saturday night, for a report of a death. Once officers arrived, they requested the State Police Major Crimes Unit to assist in processing the scene. Investigators worked all weekend and have deemed the death suspicious.

The Medical Examiner's Office will do an autopsy to determine cause of death. The name of the victim has not been released.

State Police are recommending that residents take normal precautions and report anything suspicious to Winthrop Police.
