Part Of Portland Motel Evacuated During Search For Domestic Assault Suspect
Police evacuated nearly two floors of a Portland motel late Monday night during a search for man accused of domestic violence assault.
Vincent Teruel, 40, of Hollis, checked himself into a room at Motel 6 but was not there when police arrived, police said in a news release Tuesday.
Police in an update later Tuesday announced that Teruel had been arrested by Portland police. No further information on his arrest was provided in the update.
Police said prior to their arrival at the motel they had thought it was possible that Teruel was armed.
As a precaution, police evacuated the entire fourth floor of the motel and most of the third floor as well.
The nearly three dozen people who were evacuated from their rooms were allowed to return after police discovered that Teruel was not there.
The release provided no furthur details on the domestic violence incident.
