A house fire in Rangeley has claimed the life of one person, believed to be the elderly woman who lived there.

The Franklin County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 3:00 Friday afternoon of a fire at 43 Cross Street. Upon arrival, emergency responders found an adult female inside the residence, who was deceased. Her body was taken to a local funeral home where an autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death, and confirm her identity.
