Celebrating National Donut Day Today in Bangor
This is a no-judgment zone. Today is a day of celebration. A celebration like the Superbowl, the 4th of July and Christmas all rolled into one. Because today is National Donut Day.
No matter where you’re getting your donut this morning, it is a day of celebration not a day of judging and playing ‘donut snob.’
All donuts are good donuts. Especially today. Enjoy.
Let us start with the national chains.
Dunkin' is celebrating the day with an offer of a free classic donut with the purchase of any sized beverage.
Dunkin' locations are everywhere. If you look on a corner and there isn’t a Dunkin, look across the street.
Next Tim Horton’s.
When in Canada, the across-the-street line applies for Tim Hortons. They are offering a free donut with the purchase of a donut using their app, and it's through Sunday.
Remember when ‘donut holes’ became popular and along comes Tim Horton’s calling them Tim Bits. Brilliant.
And don’t mind if I do.
A couple of iconic places in Bangor for donuts.
Frank’s Bakery & Café.
Go into Frank’s to get an item or two, and you come out with numerous items, everything looks (and tastes) so good.
Gosselin’s Bakery on Harlow Street
Look at that glaze and tell me you’re not in love.
And not around the corner from anywhere in Bangor, but often noted outside of Maine there is always The Holy Donut in Portland.
Their secret, that’s not a secret, is potatoes. They use local potatoes in the dough to give the donut a moist, dense texture. No wonder they are so popular in the state of Maine.
Enjoy the day. If you are going to overdo it, today is the day.
