Volunteers will be raffling off a beautiful motorcycle this weekend in Bangor and Brewer, with the proceeds to benefit two Maine Veteran's organizations.

The motorcycle is a 2006 Victory Vegas 8-Ball, and it's the top prize in a raffle being conducted by the Combat Vets Motorcycle Association. This international non-profit consists of Veterans from all branches of the military, who have served in hostile areas, and are now enjoying their passion for bikes.

Volunteers from the Maine chapter of CVMA will be selling $10 raffle tickets at Marden's in Brewer on Saturday, May 11th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., before moving to Bike Night at Darling's Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor. They plan to be there from 5 to 7, but only 1,000 tickets are being sold, so it may pay to get there early before they're gone. First prize is a choice between the motorcycle or $2,000 in cash. 2nd prize is $350 in cash and 3rd prize is $150 in cash.

All the proceeds from the sale will benefit the House-in-the-Woods in Lee and the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. The House-in-the-Woods offers outdoor experiences for Veterans, including hiking, kayaking, swimming, hunting, fishing, and other activities. And, of course, the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor provides rehab, short-and-long-term care for the men and women who served in the military.
