A medical transport plane, carrying a patient and medical team, slid off the runway in Presque Isle.

The incident happened just before 7:00 Wednesday evening. WAGM-TV reports a fixed-wing aircraft crash landed at the south end of the Northern Maine Regional Airport in Presque Isle. There was a patient on board, along with a nurse and paramedic from the Crown Critical Care Transport team. Everyone on the plane was taken to TAMC's emergency department for evaluation, but officials say no one appeared to be seriously hurt.

Officials say it appears the plane had an engine fire just after takeoff and was trying to make it back to the airport. Before it could complete the landing, the plane lost power and touched down short of the runway.
