Our State Song May Not Be The Best – But Maine Is the Best State

Do you remember the lyrics from the official state of Maine song?  When is the last time you sang the song?

Here is a refresher with lyrics.

The State of Maine song was written and adapted as the Official State song in 1937.  So, it’s been around a long time, and it sounds like it.

Too bad Roger Miller couldn’t have pronounced Bangor correctly.

King of The Road might have been adopted as the song.

More recently, in 2019 The Ballad of the 20^th Maine by The Ghost of Paul Revere was confirmed as the official state ballad.

Then there is California band Weezer and their longing for a simpler lifestyle and Maine in Long Time Sunshine.

New Jersey is the only state to have never named an official state song.  Tennessee has 12 official state songs. That’s a whole album full.

Some states have more famous songs.

Ray Charles Georgia on My Mind is an example.
