Maine State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian/vehicle crash in Augusta.

Have Police Released the Name of the Deceased?

The deceased has been identified as Matthew Galletta, 55, of Manchester, Maine.

What Happened?

Troopers were called to the crash just before 5:30 Friday morning in Augusta. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says Galletta was in the right hand, southbound lane of I-95 near mile marker 111 when he was struck by a pickup truck. Mr. Galletta was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, whose name has not been released, suffered minor injuries.

Police found, while examining the scene of the crash, that Galletta's vehicle was parked on the side of the interstate. Now they're investigating why the vehicle was there and why Galletta was in the right-hand lane.
