There are several choices for free meals in Maine on Tuesday for Veterans and active military members.
Did You Ever Wonder Why Veterans Day is Recognized on November 11th?
Veterans Day is always celebrated on November 11th, regardless of what day of the week it falls on, unlike other holidays that were moved to Mondays to allow for a long weekend.
The significance of the date is important.

World War I, known as the War to End All Wars, ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on June 28, 1919. But, according to the Veterans Administration, the fighting actually ceased months earlier, when an armistice was reached between Germany and the Allied Forces, bringing an end to the hostilities.
That armistice was reached in the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
Maine Military Members, Past and Present, Can Get Free Meals Around the State
Many restaurants and organizations are offering free meals to Veterans and active-duty military members. They should remember to take a military ID or other proof of service, such as a VA health care card, a DD-214, or a driver's license with veteran designation, in case they're asked for it.
