
Maine Drug Agents Charge 2 with Trafficking on Vinalhaven
Two people are facing drug charges after a traffic stop in Thomaston that netted drugs and a firearm.
Thomaston, Maine Drug Busts Nets the Arrests of 2 for Trafficking
The investigation that led authorities to two individuals with ties to Texas was focused on alleged drug trafficking activity on the island of Vinalhaven.
Officials have identified the two suspects:
- Mariah Grover, 22, who is known to reside in both Texas and Maine, is charged with unlawful trafficking in Scheduled W drugs.
- Jefferson Jazzir Arias, 27, who is known to reside in both Texas and California, is charged with aggravated drug trafficking in Scheduled W drugs.
Arias also had an extraditable warrant from California for robbery and another from Texas for theft.
Maine Drug Investigation into Alleged Activity on Vinahaven Results in Cocaine Seizure
The charges stem from an investigation involving the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Knox County Sheriff's Office began when officials received information about suspicious activity and suspected drug trafficking on the island, itself, and also on the ferry from Vinalhaven to Rockland.

When a vehicle was identified with both suspects inside, a traffic stop was initiated in Thomaston on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
Seized in a search of the vehicle were:
- 66 grams of suspected cocaine
- A .45 cailber handgun
- $9,500 in suspected drug proceeds
Officials also confiscated other items indicative of drug trafficking.

Mariah Grover was taken to the Knox County Jail, where bail was set at $50,000 cash. Jefferson Jazzir Arias is being held on $75,000 cash bail.
