Spending a Maine Summer on an Island Sounds Idyllic
Imagine what that summer would look like. Waking up every morning on a Maine island would be very cool.
Leaving the windows open so you could hear the gulls and the loons, as well as the ocean waves hitting the rocks.

Spending your morning doing a list of caretaking chores around the lighthouse and grounds, and then opening up the first-floor museum and welcoming visitors to the island.

It sounds pretty idyllic to me. One catch - you won't be getting paid.
Two People Sought to Care for a Maine Lighthouse During the Summer Months
The Department of Marine Resources seeks two volunteers to serve as seasonal caretakers of beautiful Burnt Island Light in Boothbay Harbor.
They could be a retired couple, two friends, siblings, or partners.
The caretakers will live on Burnt Island for the whole season, staying in the upstairs portion of the historic Burnt Island Keeper's House.
The downstairs level serves as a public museum.

Some of the duties would include greeting visitors, providing tours, sharing the history and significance, and doing routine lawn care and light gardening.
Officials say the candidates should have a passion for history and storytelling, friendly demeanors, and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Anyone interested in applying for the positions should send a letter of interest to the Department of Marine Resources.
