Maine Biker Charged with OUI for NH Crash that Killed a Woman
A motorcyclist from South Casco is facing charges, including OUI, for an accident in New Hampshire that killed an East Baldwin woman.
The accident happened around 7:30 Saturday evening in North Conway, New Hampshire. Police say a motorcycle, driven by 43-year-old James White of South Casco, Maine, left the roadway and hit a group of trees. His passenger, 23-year-old Jessica Frost, of East Baldwin, Maine, died at the scene. White suffered minor injuries.
The couple was traveling with a group of other motorcyclists, who had just been to the top of Hurricane Mountain Road. White and Frost were last in line as they made their way down the mountain. When the others got to the bottom, they realized the pair wasn't with them and backtracked to find the crash site. Police say White was very emotional when he heard of Frost's death, and made references to taking his own life.
According to the Conway Daily Sun, White is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and negligent homicide. His arraignment was held Tuesday in New Hampshire, and pleas of not guilty were entered on his behalf. The judge also ordered a mental health evaluation of White at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.
