A state trooper who went to help a couple whose vehicle had hit a deer was surprised by the precious cargo they were transporting.

It was a typical call for Trooper Tyler Maloon when he was called to an accident in Fairfield involving a car and a deer on Saturday. But it turned out to be anything but ordinary.

As he drove the couple to a Irving store in Pittsfield, they began to chat about an event they were attending at the Cross Insurance Center and a "trophy" that had to be there at a certain time.

His curiosity was piqued when the couple went on to say that, after the event, they had to head back to Boston for opening day at Fenway Park. They needed to take the trophy for a presentation.

Maloon asked them what trophy they were referring to, and that's when he realized the man works for the Patriots, and that the Lombardi trophy was in the backseat of his cruiser! On the Maine State Police Facebook page, Trooper Maloon said, "My mind was blown, seriously what are the odds!"

There were a lot of people at the Cross Insurance Center today that owe a thank you to Trooper Maloon for helping the trophy to arrive on time.
