Litchfield Woman Allegedly Killed By Son And Friends
Police say a Litchfield woman was allegedly killed by her son, with help from two of his friends, because he was unhappy about a recent move.
The body of 47-year-old Kimberly Mironovas was found inside her home at around 2:00 Sunday morning. There were also three teenage males in the house, including her 15-year-old son. Court documents revealed that the other two boys are friends of Mironovas's son from Massachusetts. Her son and another 15-year-old are charged with murder, while a 13-year-old is charged with conspiracy. The boys allegedly tried to drug the woman but, when that failed to work, police say they stabbed and strangled her.
The Kennebec Journal reports that the woman and her son had moved to Maine from Ashland, Massachusetts, and that her son was very upset about leaving home. Mironovas reportedly told a coworker that her son had anger issues, had been expelled from school, and wanted to move back to Massachusetts.
State prosecutors could ask to try the boys as adults, which could carry a minimum sentence of 25 years. In the juvenile system, the teens would only be detained until they turned 21.
