A kids' ice fishing derby will be held Saturday in the town of Poland at Range Pond State Park.

The Range Pond State Park Kids' Ice Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, March 4th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the park at 26 State Park Road. Admission is just $1.50 for kids and adults, ages 13 to 64, and free for everyone else. A Free ice fishing trap will be given to the first 500 registered kids ages 12 and under, that arrive before 10 a.m., and the first 100 Special Olympic registrants. The traps are provided courtesy of the Kittery Trading Post.

It will be a fun day for families to enjoy ice fishing and to get children interested in the sport. There will be drilled holes and free bait for children, on a first-come-first-served basis. A food truck will there for when the kids (and grown-ups) get hungry, and even a warming shelter to help fend off the weekend's chilly temperatures. And, if fishing is not your thing, there will also be 2 miles of groomed XC-ski trails open and a sliding hill (snow permitting)!

Door prizes include a 2-person ice shack and Seacoast Tubing packages, plus State Day Use passes. For more information, log onto the Range Pond State Park website.
