The bad news is that Jenkins' Beach in Dedham has been sold but the good news is that it is going to remain in the Jenkins family. The good news is that the camps and area will be undergoing renovations and improvements. However, the bad news is that the beach will not be open for general public use in the summer, as it has in the past.

While the beach on Green Lake won't be open to the public this summer, the new owners are in talks with local officials about opening the beach for day camp use. The new owners also are exploring the possibility of opening the beach on specific weekends, according to its website.

However, the owners stressed that the cleanup, construction, and rebuilding work will keep the beach closed to the general public on most days.

Jenkins' Beach has been operating since 1940.
