How Would You Improve Bangor’s Pickering Square?
City officials are looking to improve Pickering Square in Downtown Bangor. They're seeking public input about the upcoming project.
The city of Bangor is looking to give Pickering Square a new look. Plans are in the works to make the area more functional, welcoming and add needed amenities. The first phase of the project includes improving the small public spaces on opposite sides on Merchants Plaza with movable tables and chairs. In addition, the city wants to move the entrance of the garage to the opposite side of the building.
The city will be hosting a public meeting to discuss the project. City staff will provide an overview of the concept plans for phase one of the Pickering Square improvements. They also want to collect public input and feedback on the project. The meeting is set for Wednesday, June 27, at 5:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall.
According to the city's project rendering, future upgrades include adding public bathrooms in the square and improving the pedestrian bridge near the garage.
