Police in Belfast say several passers-by rescued a woman after her car left the roadway, went down an embankment and came to rest on its roof in a stream.

The wreck occurred on Route 52 at about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The woman, whose name was not included in a Facebook post from the Belfast Police Department, was trapped inside her vehicle and suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Police said Edgar Spaulding and two others, who left the scene before police could identify them, went down the embankment and helped the woman out of her car.

The post did not include information on what caused the accident, but snow was in the forecast for Tuesday and the post urged motorists to drive slowly and carefully.
