Folks itching to explore Fort Knox don't have to wait any longer.

Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory is open for the season. While the surrounding grounds have been open to the public, the gates to the fort have been locked the past six months.

Visitors can explore the dark, spooky tunnels and passageways of Fort Knox, as well as take an elevator ride 420 feet into the sky. The Penobscot  Narrows Observatory is the tallest bridge observatory in the country. From the top, depending on weather conditions, you can see 40 miles or more in some directions.

Saturday, May 5, is the first Fort Knox Ghost Tour of the season. The night of ghost hunting is lead by 207 Paranormal. Tickets are $20 per-person. All of the money from ticket sales goes directly to Fort Knox. To reserve a spot call 469-6553.
