Former Cianbro CEO Charged for Cannon Incident at MMA Game
Former CEO of Cianbro Peter Vigue is facing charges after allegedly firing a cannon at a Maine Maritime football game, injuring a referee.
The incident happened during a game in September. Maine Maritime Academy games begin with the firing of a cannon. But on the day in question, a spectator fired their own cannon from outside the fence. A referee was injured when he was hit in the face by debris from the blast.
Police told WABI-TV that the cannon was brought to the game by Vigue, who's charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct with a firearm, and possession and discharge of a firearm on school property. Vigue is an alumnus of the academy.
Vigue stepped down as CEO at Cianbro in 2018.
