A Massachusetts man was killed over the weekend while riding a sled in the Maine town of Eustis.

The Maine Warden Service says 60-year-old Dennis Picard of South Chatham was riding his sled on an ITS trail with a group on Sunday. His was the last sled in the group when he failed to negotiate a sharp corner near Landers Farm Road just before 3:00 yesterday afternoon. Picard lost control of his sled and struck a tree. He died at the scene.

The State Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to confirm cause of death. Wardens were assisted at the scene by NorthStar Ambulance and the Eustis Fire Department. The investigation continues into this accident.

This is the 7th snowmobile-related fatality in Maine this season.
