Singer/songwriter Don McLean has been ordered to stop making disparaging remarks on social media about his ex-wife.

The Portland Press Herald reports that the order was granted to Patrisha McLean in an Ellsworth courtroom on Wednesday. She told the judge that she's noticed several postings on McLean's Facebook page from someone named 'Dirk,' who made insulting comments about her. She believes 'Dirk' is actually McLean. She also said that she's received an anonymous email that used the same abusive names that her ex-husband called her when they were together.

Less than 8 months ago, the Camden resident pleaded guilty to a slew of Domestic Violence charges. He received a deferred disposition sentence so that, if he doesn't commit any crimes for the next year, his charges will be reduced and he'll be required to pay a $3,000 fine.

The protection order awarded this week bans McLean from having any contact with Patrisha for two years.
