It's good news overall. However, for some Bangor concerts on the schedule for summer, it could mean another round of rescheduled tours.

WE. MISS. CONCERTS. Stages and sporting areas were among the first venues to shutter when COVID-19 became widespread across the world. The Darling's Waterfront Pavilion was to host another season of major tours stopping in Bangor. However, eight planned concerts would be canceled, with three being rescheduled. Now, it seems like we may be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

According to the New York Times, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci says venues may be able to reopen “some time in the fall of 2021.” The news came during a virtual conference over the weekend with performing arts professionals. Fauci says the timeline is dependent on the vaccination rollout. The nation's top infectious disease expert added that attendees may still be required to wear masks "for some time."

If fall is indeed the time in which tours can get back on the road, Bangor could see another summer without concerts. The current schedule looks like this:

  • Luke Bryan - Thursday, August 5, 2021
  • KISS - Thursday, August 19, 2021
  • Thomas Rhett - Friday, August 20, 2021
  • Ozzy - 2022 (Unconfirmed)

Some good news can be found. With the Bangor waterfront venue resembling a gravel pit currently, summer could be spent making updates to the pavilion.

Back in October, a video by Waterfront Concerts shows the venue has big plans for transforming the pavilion into a premiere concert facility; with luxurious seating options for fans. A computer rendering shows more infrastructure improvements, with concrete groundwork to build-up the multiple seated sections of the venue and entrances. The new lawn area features a concession building, and two pillars equipped with screens and speakers.

We're unsure of when these massive upgrades will begin construction. However, the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion Facebook page shared images of the venue upgrades saying "When we come back and can have concerts again, things may look a bit different..."
