The Bridge Alliance will hold a candlelight vigil in Bangor tonight to honor the victims of a mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub.

On Sunday, 29-year-old Omar Mateen, who's being described as a terrorist sympathizer, opened fire in the Orlando nightclub Pulse, killing 50 people and wounding 53 more. While the nation reels with the largest and most deadly mass shooting in recent history, members of the LGBTA communities are even more affected by the knowledge that it happened in a gay nightclub.

It's National Pride Week, but the celebrations are dimmed by the tragedy. So the Bridge Alliance has found a way to help its community members and others express their grief and stand in support of the victims and their families.

The Bridge Alliance works to support the LGBTA community in the Greater Bangor area, through social activities and works to advocate for its members. This evening they're inviting everyone to join them in solidarity on the steps of Bangor City Hall for a candlelight vigil. It gets underway at 8:30 p.m. Monday, and candles will be provided.
