2 People Were Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting a Brewer Cop
Brewer Police arrested a local couple after an alleged domestic situation turned around, with the combatants allegedly assaulting a police officer.
Who Was Arrested?
Bruce Liberty, 40, and Lindsey Doyle, 40, both of Brewer were arrested on Saturday at a Brewer residence.
What Happened?
Brewer Police received a report of an active domestic incident on South Main Street Saturday afternoon. At approximately 4:30, Sergeant Zachary Caron went to the home to look into the situation. During the investigation, Caron tried to take Bruce Liberty into custody, but the man resisted. Brewer Police say Liberty allegedly used physical force against Caron. During that altercation, Lindsey Doyle joined the struggle and allegedly used physical force against the Sergeant, as well. At this point, backup officers Mikayla Rose and Tanner Favreau arrived on the scene and assisted in taking both individuals into custody.
Bruce Liberty is charged with class C assault on an officer, class D domestic violence, and class D refusing to submit to arrest. Lindsey Doyle is charged with class D assault. The pair was transported to the Penobscot County Jail, where bail was set at $750 for Liberty and $300 for Doyle.
Sergeant Caron received a minor injury during the altercation.
