The Beach Cove Waterfront Inn has been totally destroyed by fire.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says crews from multiple towns responded to the massive fire just before 8:30 Monday night and found the building at 48 Lakeview Road in Boothbay Harbor fully involved. Firefighters worked for several hours overnight but were unable to save the building. Officials say the earliest sign of fire was reported to have been seen in the area of the structure that housed the water heaters for the Inn.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshals Office and ATF responded to the scene and attempted to determine how the fire started. The damage was so extensive, however, they were unable to find the cause.

The Beach Cove Waterfront Inn is owned by Andrei Elizarkov, who was preparing the business to open for the season this week.
