While the government battles over how to fund the TSA, agents in Bangor are not getting paid.

Bangor TSA Agents are Required to Work Without Getting a Paycheck

Imagine that your boss says you have to go to work every day, but there's no indication about when you'll get your next paycheck.

You have a family to support, a mortgage to pay, food, utilities, and all the other bills we all deal with on a monthly basis.

On top of all this, you have no idea when you're going to get paid again. At this point, it's not looking like it's going to happen anytime soon.

Maine TSA Agents Aren't Getting Paid During Federal Funding Conflict

TSA Agents missed their first full paycheck on March 13, and their previous one was a partial paycheck because all of their insurance and other expenses for April were taken out of them.

Forget the politics, for a minute, and focus on the hardworking people who are caught in the middle, innocent victims who are just trying to get by.

Because they're government employees, there are some restrictions:

  1. They cannot accept anything directly.
  2. They cannot accept cash.
  3. They can only accept a gift card for a maximum of $20.00 in value, and the gift card must be from a grocery store such as Hannaford, Shaw's or Walmart.
  4. They may accept multiple cards, but these cards must be given to a supervisor who will distribute them.

Given those limitations, those interested in donating may purchase a gift card from Hannaford, Shaw's, or Walmart, not to exceed $20 each.

They may be federal employees, but they're still Mainers just trying to get by.
