It was a peaceful ending to an 8-hour-standoff in Brownfield on Wednesday that began as a dispute between neighbors. Police were called to the Denmark Road residence after Charles King allegedly took out a gun. No one was hurt in the incident.

A former teacher from Deer Isle Stonington has been sentenced to nearly a year in jail after pleading guilty to sex crimes against two students, and will be on the sex offender registry for 10 years. Izaak Bolduc taught phys ed and health and was a basketball coach.

Acadia National Park officials are cautioning visitors about illegal campfires after one turned into a brush fire on Tuesday. Several fire departments had to haul water  to the site at Schoodic Woods Campground that's only accessible by a hiking trail. Find more information on the Acadia National Park Facebook page.

Kenduskeag Fire and Rescue is holding a family-friendly open house this Sunday, with face painting, live music, and a bounce house. Kids can sit in a firetruck and parents can try their luck at a number of raffle items. It’s all happening Sunday from 10 to 2 at the fire station on Broadway.
