
Maine E-Waste Event In Bangor Benefits Challenger Learning Center
Mainers can safely recycle their unwanted electronics this weekend, to benefit the Challenger Learning Center.
Challenger Learning Center in Bangor Holds E-Waste Event Fundraiser
Look around your house and take inventory of the electronics you no longer want. Maybe you have a broken television or an out-of-date laptop that is just collecting dust.
Getting rid of junk electronics can be challenging because you can't just put them out with the trash.
But with some help from the Challenger Learning Center in Bangor, it's easy, and it benefits a great cause.
The Challenger Learning Center is once again hosting an E-Waste Fall Fundraiser on Saturday, November 8th.
Bangor, Maine E-Waste Event Will Benefit Challenger Learning Center
This will be a one-day event at the Learning Center, 30 Venture Way, in Bangor, in partnership with North Coast Services. The drop-off at the center will run from 8 am to 11 am.
You don't have to pay to recycle your electronics, but donations will benefit the Challenger Learning Center. Suggested donations are $10 for the first item, and $5 for each additional item.
You can pay with cash or checks.
Bangor, Maine E-Waste Event Will Accept a Variety of Electronics
So what kinds of electronics are acceptable?
The types of items that would be acceptable at the E-Waste event include CRT monitors, televisions, printers, fax machines, scanners, CPUs (computer towers), laptops cellphones, microwaves, and miscellaneous electronics.
Items that will not be accepted include air conditioners/dehumidifiers, any Freon devices, mercury devices like thermostats or thermometers, smoke detectors, light bulbs, holiday lights, or large electronics like vacuum cleaners or batteries. No bags of batteries will be accepted.
The Challenger Learning Center teaches STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) using space exploration as a theme. Students are given jobs for simulated space missions and get hands-on experiences.
