Augusta Police Warn Of Lethal Heroin
Augusta Police are warning residents of a particularly lethal batch of heroin that's being distributed in the area.
Officials say, between August 31st and September 4th, the city of Augusta has seen a drastic increase in overdoses from opiates. In just five days, seven people died of heroin overdoses leading investigators to the discovery of a supply of 'killer' heroin in the Augusta area. Heroin is already a dangerous drug, but when it's mixed with other elements like fentanyl, it becomes deadly. Police haven't commented on what exactly is making this batch of heroin so lethal.
Anyone who comes in contact with the drug or who has information about its source is encouraged to contact the Augusta Police Department at (207) 626-2370.
