Augusta Police are asking for the public's help with the details of an incident on Thursday night that left one man with a gunshot wound.

It was around 8:30 Thursday night when Augusta Dispatch began receiving multiple phone calls about gunshots in the Middle Street area. Officers investigated and learned that 2 vehicles may have been involved in the incident, possibly fleeing the scene before they arrived. Witnesses described a gold SUV and a silver SUV. One of the people involved, 32-year-old Martin Winn of Pittston, was treated for a gunshot wound at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.

Police do not believe that this was a random act of violence, but rather that the parties are known to each other. At this point, officials say they don't know many details, but think there were several vehicles and people involved in the altercation.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Augusta Police Department.
