Auburn Woman Accused of Shooting Another in the Face
An Auburn woman is facing charges after allegedly shooting another woman in the face while they argued.
Auburn Police say they were called to the area of Moulton Park on Hutchins Street, along the Androscoggin River at around 5:30 Sunday evening. The caller told police that a woman had been shot by another woman during an argument. Responding officers found the 37-year-old victim conscious and bleeding from a single gunshot wound to her face. The suspect in the shooting was identified as 24-year-old Kachina Swasey of Auburn. The victim was treated at the scene by the Auburn Fire Department and transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she was listed in serious but stable condition.
The suspect shooter, 24-year-old Kachina Swasey of Auburn, was located a short distance away. Police say she resisted arrest, allegedly spitting on one officer and biting another. Swasey is charged with criminal attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault, assault on an officer, and violation of conditions of release. Due to the violation of conditions of release charge, bail was not permitted until Swasey has appeared before a judge.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
