Auburn Walmart Shooting Suspect Charged With Murder
The man who allegedly shot a Turner man to death in the Auburn Walmart parking lot is charged with murder.
Gage Dalphonse was arrested on Wednesday after the State Medical Examiner's Office determined that 42-year-old Jean Fournier died of gunshot wounds and ruled the death a homicide. Fournier was shot during an altercation in the Walmart parking lot at around 7: p.m. on July 27. He was transported by Auburn Fire Department to Central Maine Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and Evidence Response Team have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. There were several witnesses to the incident and they have been interviewed. In a post on the department's Facebook page, Auburn Police had this to say about the incident:
"There has been a lot of speculation in the community and on social media as to the circumstances surrounding this incident. We do not consider this to be a random act of violence and do not consider the community to be at risk."
Gage is currently being held at the Androscoggin County Jail. He's expected to be arraigned on the murder charge on Friday.
