Two fugitives wanted in connection with a violent home invasion in Buckfield were apprehended Friday morning while camping in Tennessee.

Authorities had been on the lookout for Neil Roy Canney, 52, and Selena Canney, 49, in connection with a July 27 invasion that left a 67-year-old man with stab wounds to his chest.

The Canneys allegedly entered the victim's house in the early morning, where they allegedly beat and stabbed the individual, before authorities say the victim was able to escape to a neighbor's house and call for help. The Canneys have been considered armed and dangerous.

According to a press release put out by the U.S. Marshal's Service, information was recovered that the Canneys may have been hiding out in the woods in Hampton, Tenn, in Carter County:

"According to the Carter County TN Sheriff’s Office, Deputies located the suspects’ vehicle early this morning on a road near a local trail. At that time, Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office located a tent a few hundred yards onto the trail where it was believed Selena and Neil Canney were sleeping inside. Both Selena and Neil Canney were taken into custody without incident. Two firearms were also recovered."

Both Selena and Neil Canney were charged as fugitives from justice. Neil Cannel also was charged as a felon in possession of a firearm. Both will have to appear before a Tennessee State Court first before being extradited back to Maine to face charges surrounding the home invasion here.

The investigation and arrest involved members of the U.S. Marshal's Service, The Maine Violent Offender Task Force, Oxford County Sheriff's Office, Maine State Police, Biddeford Police Department, Maine Department of Corrections and the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, working in conjunction with the Carter County Tennessee Sheriff's Office.
