The body of a New Jersey man who tried to swim across the Kennebec River was recovered this week.

WABI-TV reports construction workers in Caratunk found Michael Camiso's body on Tuesday. The Somerset County Sheriff's Office had posted a picture of Camiso on the department's Facebook page, stating that they had property belonging to him and asking for the public's help in locating him. That was on May 11th, and the post said some of his property had been turned in at their office.

On or around May 8th, a law enforcement official spoke with Camiso, who was hiking the Appalachian Trail. He told the officer that he was going to swim across the river and was advised against it because the river was very high.

His body has been taken to the office of the State Medical Examiner.
