An Albion man received his sentence this week for a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed twin toddlers.
Albion, Maine, Man Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter for Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash
Benjamin Lancaster pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the crash that happened in July 2025 in Albion.
Millie Egold of Albion was walking with her two children in a stroller when they were struck by a vehicle on Hussey Hill Road. The Hyundai Veloster, which police would later learn was being driven by Lancaster, fled before First Responders arrived.

Ms. Egold was transported via LifeFlight to a local hospital with serious injuries. One of the children was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The other child was taken to the hospital via LifeFlight. He would later succumb to his injuries.

Lancaster was located and charged with operating under the influence causing death, and 2 counts of operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury, as well as leaving the scene of an accident causing death, and 2 counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing serious injury.
Albion, Man, Receives a Prison Sentence for a Double-Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash
According to the Kennebec Journal, Benjamin Lancaster pleaded guilty to manslaughter under a plea agreement. He was sentenced this week to 25 years in prison, with all but 15 years suspended, and four years of probation.
During the trial, prosecutors say a State Trooper noticed signs of impairment on the night that Lancaster was arrested.
