A teenager died when the vehicle she was riding in struck a recycling truck.

The crash happened just after 1:00 Tuesday morning. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says Kaylie Ladd, 18, of Chesterville was one of four people in the vehicle.

According to the Maine State Police, a 2005 Chevrolet Surburban SUV crashed into the rear end of an Archie's Recycling truck when it was pulled over, picking up recyclables. The Suburban was being driven by Melanie Greene, 38, and her three children were in the SUV, including Ladd, a toddler, and an infant. Ladd suffered fatal injuries, while the others in the vehicle had minor injuries. Greene and the two younger children are expected to make full recoveries.

Officials say the crash is still under investigation.

Our condolences to Kaylie's family and friends.
