Officials Say the Driver Got Out of the Pickup Truck As It Was Moving
The charges stem from a bizarre case in Ellsworth in March 2022, when police were called to a local business for a report of a stabbing and a man who had been run over by a vehicle on High Street. As officers were responding to the call, they learned that a passenger had allegedly threatened the owner/driver of the pickup truck with a deadly weapon. The driver exited the vehicle as it was moving and it ran over his leg. Milliken got into the driver's seat and took off with a female passenger, who couldn't get out of the vehicle.
When the vehicle eventually stopped in the Ellsworth City Hall parking lot, the woman got out and ran away. The owner of the truck suffered a broken leg and the woman wasn't hurt in the incident.
Milliken is Sentenced to Prison for the Incident
When police caught up to Milliken, WGME-TV reports he was initially cooperative but then lunged at an officer and was subdued with a stun gun. He pleaded guilty to two charges of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, two charges of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and a single charge of theft by unauthorized use. Milliken was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison, with one-and-a-half years suspended.
