
A 15-Year-Old Girl Died After Crashing an SUV in Saco
A 15-year-old girl died on Monday when she crashed the SUV she was driving.
Saco Police say Mariah Bailey of Flagg Pond Road in Saco was found behind the wheel of the Toyota Highlander at approximately 3:15 Sunday morning. Neighbors called the police after reportedly hearing a loud bang. Officials say the vehicle crashed into some trees after leaving the roadway at a turn, in an area where the road crested. According to the Portland Press Herald, Bailey was alone in the vehicle.

This crash remains under investigation by the Saco Police Department.
The legal driving age in Maine is 16, meaning that a person must be at least that old to obtain a Maine driver's license. A person may apply for and obtain a learner's permit at 15-years-old, but that requires them to have a licensed driver in the vehicle with them.
