Yankee Candle Closing Bangor Mall Store
Like a candle in the wind, the flame has burnt out for Yankee Candle at Bangor Mall.
According to an article in the Bangor Daily News, the popular candle store will be closing up shop on January 25th, after spending almost 21 years in business within the Bangor Mall.
This is another big hit for Bangor Mall, once the shopping mecca of eastern Maine. Earlier this year Victoria's Secret ended there run at Bangor Mall. The popular underwear, panama, and lingerie store was located around the corner from Yankee Candle.
The Yankee Candle company is based out of South Deerfield, Massachusetts, and has 475 stores nationwide. Following January 25th, folks will have to travel to Freeport to physically walk into a Yankee Candle store to purchase one of their famous scented candles. Although many people travel even further south to South Deerfield, to visit the world-renowned Yankee Candle Village, one of New England's most popular tourist destinations.
Yankee Candle opened at Bangor Mall back in March of 2000. Yankee Candles can be found in other retail stores within Maine. There are also two other stone and brick locations other than the one in Freeport, the Maine Outlet Shopping Center in Kittery and also at the Maine Mall in South Portland.
