Week of Action in Eastern Maine
This is the way to come out of a Pandemic. Everyone is ready to get outside, anywhere, just somewhere away from the house. What to do. Just something. Let’s get busy doing something, that will help put the pandemic behind us and help get our mind on other things.
The United Way of Eastern Maine sees the same vision. Time to do some good community things. United Way announces their very first Week of Action next week, June 21st to 25th.
The United Way of Eastern Maine serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, Waldo, and Washington counties has come up with numerous opportunities for volunteers to get involved in community. We get a sense of community, by being involved in community. So next week everyone can get involved in assisting non-profits and by participating in various drives. And it doesn’t matter if you’re doing this alone or as a company or group. Everyone is welcome to be a part of Week of Action.
Here are a few examples of events happening next week.
On Thursday the 24th, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Walmart in Bangor and at Reny’s Department Store in Ellsworth there will be basic needs drives. Volunteers will be collecting underwear, hoodies, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo and body wash, razors and more. All items collected will go to the Emmaus Homeless Shelter in Ellsworth and the Hope House Health & Living Center in Bangor.
Friday the 25th, Bangor Blood Donation Center on Hammond Street in Bangor will host a blood drive between 9 a.m and 2 p.m. by appointment only. When you sign up with the Red Cross use the code United Way.
It might be as simple as picking up trash and bottles when you are out walking on your street. Let’s come together as community and participate in Week of Action. Here’s more events, maybe near you.
